In a Southeast Asian country, inside a power plant entrusted with a critical electricity supply mission, the air was thick with heat and humidity. Amidst the sweltering conditions, HOPE SLANVERT service engineer Li Yikun stood beside several key high-voltage drives. He knew well that these “hearts” powering the plant’s core equipment directly determined the facility’s efficiency and operational safety.
However, the environment over 40°C with extreme humidity- posed a severe test for both people and equipment. To make matters worse, the local network signal was highly unstable, with remote technical support frequently interrupted, turning equipment commissioning into an even greater challenge. Yet, Li Yikun did not wait passively. Racing against time, he made full use of the brief and unstable network windows to transmit crucial operational data back to the technical center in China. At the same time, leveraging his solid expertise and rich on-site experience, he overcame difficulties, completed the commissioning, and ensured the equipment was successfully put into operation.
Language barriers added another layer of complexity. With ingenuity and patience, Li and the local plant technicians developed a highly effective “toolbox” of communication methods: translation apps for basic vocabulary, expressive hand gestures, clear system diagrams sketched on paper, and most importantly- hands-on demonstrations of key procedures and safety practices. Thanks to this tacit cooperation, when other equipment at the site unexpectedly malfunctioned, the team was able to resolve issues quickly, preventing losses. Afterward, the client’s representative gave high praise “Engineer Li’s professionalism, sense of responsibility, and technical expertise under such conditions deeply impressed us”.
